Privacy policy

Who we are

Adaptive Learning is operated by Mayank Gautam. This policy describes information handled by our website and connected learning app, including accounts, courses, the AI tutor, questions and saved revisions. Contact us about privacy at mayank@adaptivelearning.in.

Accounts and sign-in

When you sign in with Google, we receive a Google account identifier, email address, display name, profile image if supplied, and verification information. We use these to create and authenticate your account, maintain your session, and determine access to courses and administration features. We do not receive your Google password or request access to your Gmail messages or Google Drive files through this sign-in.

We also store account status, session and security records, enrolments, and the first observed login IP address and coarse device, browser and operating-system information. A network address may identify an intermediary proxy rather than your device; it is not a verified physical location or a device fingerprint.

Your learning history

We save course progress, the last studied subtopic, completed activities, voice and playback preferences, question attempts, answers, evaluations, tutor conversations and follow-ups, and items you mark for revision. This lets you resume learning and revisit your work. Access is restricted by account and course permissions; authorized operators may access records when needed for support, security or running the service.

AI tutor and answer evaluation

When you ask a doubt, request an explanation or submit an answer for AI evaluation, relevant lesson or question content, your selected passage, your input, attached answer photos where applicable, and relevant conversation history are sent to the configured AI provider. The returned response and evaluation can be saved in your learning history. Our current answer and evaluation provider is OpenAI.

Do not include passwords, payment details, health records or other unnecessary sensitive information in a question, photograph or recording. AI replies and evaluations can be incorrect; they are learning aids, not official exam results or decisions about admission or employment.

Voice input, narration and photos

Microphone access is requested when you choose voice input. Captured recordings are uploaded, stored with account-linked metadata, and sent to Google for transcription. Transcripts are returned for use in your doubt, answer or follow-up; submitting that text can send it to the answer provider too. Stopping a recording or choosing not to submit the resulting text does not itself delete an already uploaded recording or transcript. You can use typed input instead and revoke microphone permission in your browser or device settings.

For generated tutor speech, text to be spoken is sent to Microsoft Azure Speech or Sarvam, depending on the selected voice. Generated audio may be stored for playback. This is synthetic narration, not a live teacher listening to you. Selecting a tutor voice does not clone your voice.

Photos you choose for an answer are uploaded and stored for that question. Submitted photos may be processed by the AI evaluation provider. Avoid including faces, identity documents or other people's information unless necessary and you have permission. An upload can reach storage before you submit the answer.

Product analytics

We collect small, batched usage events to understand how the product works and improve it: pages and courses opened, visible questions and recall activities, answer reveals, attempts and completion outcomes, tutor use, revision actions, applied filter choices, preferred voices and speeds, and estimated active study or listening time. We may record referral domains, campaign tags, coarse device information and the app or browser platform.

An anonymous browser or app identifier may be linked to a pseudonymous account identifier after sign-in. These records are not fully anonymous because that linkage can connect activity to an account. We use Google BigQuery for events, identity links and analytics profiles, with aggregate reports available to authorized staff. Analytics batches do not include your answer text, tutor conversation text, transcripts, photos, audio or IP address. Operational systems and learning records handle those separately as described above. We do not use session-replay recordings or device fingerprinting in this collector.

The website disables optional product analytics when it detects Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track. This does not disable account records, first-login metadata, submitted learning work or security logging needed to operate the service. Blocking cookies alone is not a reliable way to disable all analytics. You can contact us about analytics choices or linked data. There is currently no in-app analytics-consent settings panel.

Cookies and device storage

We use session, refresh, sign-in transaction and security cookies to keep you signed in and protect requests. An analytics cookie supports the optional anonymous identifier. The browser may also keep basic account-display information, a pending progress-sync queue in IndexedDB, and cached course images or audio. Native app storage may hold session and learning preferences. These are not advertising cookies. Google sign-in uses Google's own services and policies.

You can clear site storage or sign out on a shared device. Restricting essential cookies can prevent sign-in or progress synchronization. Clearing local storage does not delete records already stored on our servers.

Storage and service providers

Account and authoritative learning records are held in PostgreSQL on Google Cloud. Uploaded and generated media are held in private Google Cloud Storage. Product analytics are held in BigQuery; aggregate dashboard snapshots may also be kept in PostgreSQL. Google Cloud provides hosting, infrastructure logs and backups. The same existing database and analytics resources support this MVP; their internal resource names do not mean that live learner data is disposable test data.

Our current integrations include Google for sign-in, hosting, storage, analytics and transcription; OpenAI for AI responses and evaluations; and Microsoft and Sarvam for text-to-speech. Providers process information needed for those features under the applicable service arrangements. Their retention and processing practices can differ from ours. We do not promise that all providers delete data immediately or that every service keeps data in a single country. Our current primary application database is in Singapore, and other processing may occur in other countries.

We do not sell personal information or share product analytics with advertisers in the current service. We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to respond to a valid legal requirement, protect users or investigate misuse. Provider information is available from Google, OpenAI's API data practices, Microsoft and Sarvam.

How long information is kept

Account and learning records, including submitted answers, conversations, recordings, transcripts and submitted photos, are kept to maintain your account and learning history. They do not currently have a blanket automatic deletion period. Unsubmitted answer photos become eligible for cleanup after 24 hours; cleanup can be delayed by failures or outages. Submitted photos are retained with the attempt.

The raw analytics event table is configured to expire partitions after 90 days. Identity links, analytics profiles and aggregate summaries can be kept longer than the raw events; they do not all expire after 90 days. Routine application logs in our current Cloud Logging configuration are retained for 30 days. Platform audit logs and provider records may have different retention periods.

Backups and storage recovery copies follow their own rotation schedules and may remain after a record is removed from active use. Removing a saved revision does not delete the underlying question attempt, tutor conversation or uploaded media. Signing out is not an account-deletion request.

Your choices and requests

You can use available revision controls, change voice preferences, revoke microphone permission and sign out. To request access, correction or deletion of account information, learning records, uploads or linked analytics, or to raise a privacy concern, contact us using the email below. We may need to verify your identity or your authority to act for a child before processing a request. We will explain any applicable limitations, including records that must be retained for security or legal reasons. Rights and response requirements depend on the law that applies to you; you may also be able to contact your local data-protection authority.

There is no self-service account-deletion or data-export screen in the current app. Contacting us starts a request; it does not automatically erase every database, backup or provider copy.

Children and families

Our learning materials are intended for learners of different ages. The current app does not verify age or provide a verifiable parental-consent flow. Where parental or guardian consent is required, that process must be in place before a child creates an account or sends personal information, including voice recordings or photos. Contact us before such use; an adult's supervision or acceptance of terms alone may not satisfy those requirements. This notice does not claim that unrestricted child accounts are ready for public use.

Parents and guardians can contact us about a child's information, request its review or deletion, or report an account created without required authorization. Please avoid sending identity documents in an initial email; we will explain any necessary verification separately.

Security and policy changes

We use authenticated access, private media storage and restricted staff/provider credentials to protect records. No online service can guarantee complete security. We may update this notice as the product changes and will show the revised date here. Material changes to data use require appropriate notice and, where required, consent; this policy is not blanket permission for unrelated future uses.
